From the start of the year we listen very regularly to music in class - Western Classican Music, Hindustani Classical Music... Our playlist till date includes the likes of Debussy, Anoushka SHankar, Beethoven, Zakir Hussain, Chopin, etc.. We always tried to vary the style of the music in order to understand the difference between the sound that the different instruments make and the way the are played. After numerous informal listening sessions, we tried to do an activity where the children had to identify the instrument by its sound and then go on to also name the family to which it belonged!
